Growing tomatoes during the rainy season:
1. Thoroughly prepare the plantation
area way ahead of planting schedule.
2. Choose an area that is not prone to
flooding.
3. As much as possible, build a high
enough planting ridge (about half meter high and a meter wide) and fill it up
with compost-soil mix.
4. Provide a half meter space between rows of
planting ridge and dig 30 cm deep drainage canals on both sides of the planting
ridge.
5. Dig also 20 cm deep x 20 cm diameter
planting holes on the planting ridge at intervals of 50 cm and fill-up the hole
with 50/50 compost-garden soil mix.

6. One month after preparing the
planting area, right at the start of the rainy season and according to plan,
transplant 3 weeks old tomato seedlings in the prepared planting holes.

7. Visit the plantation daily and take good care of the growing tomato plants. Irrigate the tomato plants as needed most especially during the first few days of establishment.

Note: Avoid the occurrence of stagnant water. Make sure that the drainage canals are always clean and without obstruction. If
possible, provide temporary shelter to the tomato plants during times of heavy rain.
